We just received the beautiful plaque that was mailed to us from Frank and the Florida Staff.

From looking at the posts, looks like the tournament was a great success.

I wish my team MD Five Pillars were able to attend but unfortunately prior commitments from majority of our team prevented us from attending. Hopefully next year.

Basketball Tourney Breakdown:
$350/Team for tournament entry into A division
$300/Team for tournament entry into B division
1 Participant/team for skills contests (Slam Dunk/3-Pt)
$5 entry fee/spectator per day

-History of Champions: 1998 - Tennessee Vols / 2001 - Dallas Bandits / 2004 - NY D-Unit / 2008 - Dallas Bandits

-This tournament will be held at the Orlando Sports Center in Orlando, FL.

-This tournament will be held on Friday, January 16 - Sunday, January 18 of 2009(MLK Weekend).

-This tournament will be hosted and played in memory of our dear brother from Maryland, Salman A. Jamil.

All the games started on time with referees and scorekeepers in place for every game. Having multiple courts allowed for the tournament to finish earlier on Sunday but also did not allow teams to see each other play. I would probably recommend a traditional format for Sunday so teams get more rest and can also watch each other play. My thoughts on the tournament are as follows:

You have some new teams entering the IPB scene. Can you give us a preview of the newer teams. We are very excited about not just the tournament, but the entire weekend starting with playing golf on friday. I think IPB tournaments are starting to be more than just the basketball. Just like Dallas has Texas-OU Weekend, Chicago has the city itself, Vancouver it's persona, and now Orlando is a great destination for those that want to get a break from the winter months.

As teams get older, a new generation of teams must emerge and my initial gut is that the next IPB generation will come from Florida, Chicago, Vancouver, and Texas.

As we discussed, will this tournament be in Orlando near Disney or in Tampa... I think Orlando would offer the best option as teams can come in early and enjoy the sites and particiate in the tournament. I think if done properly, Florida could make a big splash back into the IPB scene. Let me know what we can do to help...
