Elite Teams
The Elite teams all had the following characteristics: Discipline and Poise. These four made it to the Finals due to their tenacity and will to fight till the very last whistle. It was a defensive and offensive show for each team, with turnovers and mental mistakes that cost the game.
Blaze - Aerial offensive assault with deadly accurate two headed QB (Shuja Mir & Zubair Chaudry) tandem. The team had great blocking and sure hands by the line and receiving core, respectively. The defense was suffocating and would fly to the ball causing over a dozen interceptions. They did not give up the long ball the entire tourney.
Good Show - Dominated their conference with smart football. They did not panic when behind in the score. Played a time controlled conference championship game, but in the Tourney championship, could not convert turnovers and gave the ball away too many times. Defense made it very hard for opposing offense to get wheels moving as always.
Playmakers - Team scored the highest number of points of all teams. Led by their Jedi QB (Akash Arora), the team was crisp and precise in all their routes and blocking schemes. Opposing offense could not get past the defensive backs. Too many drops caused them to lose their conference championship game against the eventual tourney champions Blaze.
Sunni Kush - Speed, speed, speed…… The defensive line with Zubair Qureshi, caused the opposing offense to stutter and commit mistakes. They could not overcome mental mistakes and the opponent's (Good Show) years of experience in Conference championship.
Advanced Teams
The Advanced teams dominated the less skilled teams, but were not able to play at the level of the Elite group. Each team made too many mental errors and in the end could not overcome mistakes. If each team be more organized, they may be able to join the elite.
Raiders - Team found the QB (Alok Maheshwari) who will lead them to the playoffs and another one (Justin Varughese) who can take over the reigns in the future. Speed on the defensive line cause problems for all offenses, but the mental mistakes and poor route running was the downfall against the elite teams.
CTW - Robin Karimpanamannil's team was ravaged with injuries and could not overcome mistakes. Once they have a healthy team, they will be one of the advanced team to watch for.
Shake N Bake - Energetic team which lacked discipline and sportsmanship. High powered on both sides of the ball, led by QB (Shazeem) with speed and strong arm. As with all the Advanced teams, could not get offense moving in playoffs and defense could not stop opponents.
CPC - The offense needs to be more in sync, if they are to challenge the better teams. The talent is there, they just need to be fine tuned and play more disciplined football. Speed on the defensive front kept them in some games, but the turnovers were too much to overcome.
Intermediate Teams
The Intermediate teams have the players, but need to be organized and put the players in the right positions and schemes. Each was very inconsistent against all opponents. In many cases, the offense would be the problem and would put the defense in some uncomfortable positions. Need more time, practice, and direction to move into the advance group.
Punjabi Heeray - Strong willed team that made each game very tough for their opponents and exciting to watch for their fans, but in the end offense and defense could not overcome mental and careless errors.
Old Skool - Ben Varghese put this team together with some of the guys he grew up with and the MFGC All-Stars players. Like the other teams, they have the players but they need to put them in the proper positions and schemes. If they decided to work on this, they can easily go head to head with the advance teams and challenge the elite.
Dragon Soldiers - Honestly, this team's performance was disappointing. Last year the team played well and was competitive. This year was a different story. They have the players, just need to find the fit for them. Offense stalled too many times on drives. Some fine tuning and directions by their captain Aju Thomas will make them a more consistent team.
Cowboys - Team has lots of energy, but needs to channel that to form a more disciplined mindset. Imtiaz Mohsin organized a talented team that in a couple of years could move into the Advanced group.
Raiders II - This team was there at the last minute. Offense and defense made too mental errors to be competitive.
St. Pauls - They need to be there mentally and to have a more fluid transition game. Offense would move, but then stall in the most inopportune times and this caused them to lose games. Mix of young and old talents that can build a strong team in the future.
United - Hurt by injuries and just not enough practice. Showed signs of plays for highlight reels, but just could not match up with the other teams. With regular practice and little more discipline, this team can be move into the Advanced group.
New Skool - Team does not have a consistent core group to perform at the games. Need to find QB, so that other players can play to their strengths. Led by the heart and will of their captain (Chris George), just not enough support and organization to be successful.
